DJ Demo’s exemplary talent and sophisticated sound has, without a doubt, proven that he belongs on a stage anywhere; his skills have superseded those of many who came before him and even those who exist presently. Graduating from DJ’ing on the little stereo in his parents’ living room at the tender age of 8, to playing worldwide has identified him as a true force to be reckoned with. The early 90’s gave birth to the phenomenon known today as DJ Demo. His foundation started with a well-known record shop in downtown Brooklyn called Beat Street Records, where he allowed his passion for music and the art of DJ’ing to be showcased while employed there. His skills at work soon led to real gigs, as the shop’s customers became his own, based on his in-store performances. He even gained the favor of many of the celebrities that visited the store. In addition to working at the record store, working with “The All Star Talent Network” for thirteen years strong has given him the much needed exposure to promote himself. As the sound designer for their talents shows, DJ Demo had great influence with many of the show’s dance acts with the creation of his “DJ Demo Mastermixes”. His vital role with “The All Star Talent Network” has not only benefitted the network but has paved the way for his future endeavors. DJ Demo’s career skyrocketed when he met the legendary DJ Grandmaster Flash in 1996; their instant chemistry led to many collaborations. Two years later, DJ Demo was engulfed in a whirlwind of activities. He was featured on a weekday radio program on 107.5 WBLS NY called “The Midday mix” and had a reoccurring gig on Saturday nights at Bentley’s Nightclub. Additionally, he performed at numerous events throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. In 1998, when 107.5 WBLS NY changed the format of their station, a new arising was presented for DJ Demo. For the next five years, DJ Demo was doing on-air mix shows every week, conducting live broadcasts from Carib NY Nightclub, and maintaining a long-term weekly appearance at Club Ivy and Le Bar Bat Nightclub in New York City. DJ Demo was buzz worthy before, but by seven years in, he had been recognized as a true titan in his field, worthy of great praise and recognition as he had become a master of his craft. In 2004, DJ Demo accepted DJ Grandmaster Flash’s invitation to perform worldwide in preparation for an upcoming album. For the six years that followed, DJ Demo and DJ Grandmaster Flash performed on various stages in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Caribbean. He was also sponsored and endorsed by Traktor Scratch Pro, and completed music production on Driver-Parallel Line and DJ Hero video games. In addition, he performed on two VH1 Hip Hop Honors telecasts (2004 & 2005), the MTV VMA's in Miami (2005), the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee ceremony with The Furious Five (2007), "Later with Jools Holland" on BBC (2009), the finale show and guest appeared during the series of The Heineken Green Synergy DJ Challenge 2010 in Jamaica and was a contestant on the music game show "Rock And A Hard Place" (2007). He was also noted in the production of DJ Grandmaster Flash’s album "The Bridge: Concept of a Culture" and has been a ghost DJ for DJ Grandmaster Flash on his highly rated satellite radio show on SiriusXM. From 2008 until now DJ Demo has been a premier DJ on Worldcast Radio (www.worldcastradio.com Tuesdays at 3pm EST), an internet-radio station. He has a live show every Tuesday called "The Tuesday Crush Live with DJ Demo", and his podcast at www.djdemo.podomatic.com is listened to worldwide. Written by: Kayan Tyus
