In an interview with Access Hollywood, the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, denied having had pancreatic surgery for cancer. While she did not name the specific illness that she is ailing from, she did acknowledge having significant pain in her side during concerts in Birmingham and Boston, which prompted her to seek medical advice. Apparently the surgery has been highly successful, with the doctor telling her that it may have added 15 to 20 years or more to her life. She also acknowledged receiving a letter from President Barack Obama stating “I got a wonderful and beautiful letter from the President,” “And nobody does it like him!” The Queen also indicated she is now "rocking" a size 16-18 which is leading to speculation of gastric bypass surgery. In any event, we wish her a speedy recovery.
