Parents To Get Jail Time For Not Attending Parent/Teacher Confernces???

Kym Worthy, a prosecutor in Wayne County, Detroit, is looking to get legistlation passed that would require parents to spend three days in jail for failing to attend parent/teacher conferences. Those parents whose children are excelling in school, those who are already actively involved, and those who have health problems or difficulty traveling would be exempted from the punishment. As a result of the high rate of crimes committed by children in the county, the prosecutor cites the need for more parental involvement. I guess that is one way to approach the situation!
