As most already know, the songstress that many of us grew up to has passed away at the age of 48. On Saturday, February 11, 2012, Whitney Houston was found in the bathtub of her hotel room unconscious. According to many reports was under water and cold by the time her hairdresser found her. She was in town for her mentor, Clive Davis', annual pre-grammy party where she was rumored to perform. She was staying at the Beverly Hilton, the same location as the party, with a large entourage, including her daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
At 3:30 p.m. paramedics were called to respond to a medical emergency at the hotel. Fire fighters were already in the hotel prepping for the night's festivities so they rushed to her room and attempted to rescuscitate her to no avail. At 3:55 p.m. PST Whitney was pronounced dead. The Beverly Hill Police Department was also on the scene and began a full investigation upon receiving a warrant. The Beverly Hills Coroner's Office also began an investigation. While they waited and completed their investigation, Whitney's body remain in the hotel room. At this time no foul play is suspected and they have reported to only have found prescribed medications in her room. No alcohol was present. Xanax however was one of the prescriptions found and it is constantly used to treat anxiety and depression. Coupled with alcohol it can cause effects like a high powered sedative. Hotel employees claimed that Whitney and her entourage partied very heavily the night before so alcohol may have remained in her system.
An autopsy of her body was completed yesterday and the coroner is said to have found water in her lungs however no final cause of death has been determined. The final results of the autopsy will not be ready for several weeks as the toxicology tests must be completed first. Currently law enforcement officals are saying the circumstances are looking like either a heart attack or a prescription drug overdose.
Since the passing of her mother, Bobbi Kristina has been rushed to the hospital twice, having panic attack like events. Bobby Brown left the New Edition tour to go and be with her. She is currently on a suicide watch according to many sources.
Whitney may have had her troubles but no one can deny her talent. Let us all remember the good times and let her past finally be put to rest.
Rest In Peace Whitney Houston!
